Although The Mica Lamp Company is perhaps best known for their copper lamps, they also create a number of different styles of lighting fixtures and now ceiling fans, each reminiscent of various historic designs. The Mica Lamp Company's commitment to the efforts of past masters is typified in the many new designs introduced yearly. The result is a timeless heirloom quality lighting piece that will surely be of value in the mind and heart of its owner(s) for many years over.
Turn-of-the-century, American lighting design and craftsmanship is available today from The Mica Lamp Company. Manufactured in the USA, and highly respected for their high quality reproductions of copper mica lamps, The Mica Lamp Company follows the same formula as the original circa 1900 craftsman. All of the parts are made of SOLID COPPER, are assembled with hand driven COPPER RIVETS and are finished with a RICH NATURAL PATINA. Each lamp bottom plate is die struck with the Mica Lamp shop mark which tends to reinforce the distinguished elegance of a Mica Lamp Company lamp over the many knock off designs infiltrating the market.
The mica shade panels are the same natural materials the historic Arts & Crafts master lamp makers had used. Mineral mica flakes, combined with organic shellac, make each mica shade unique with its variations of mineral deposit patterns and color tones.
All Mica Lamp Company fixtures offered with mica lenses are available with either (A) Almond Natural Mica or (O) Orange Amber Mica.
Dirk Van Erp, the famous San Francisco coppersmith, was the first to craft copper and mica lamps in 1910. Other craftsman era designs were also expressed in hand forged iron, art glass, quartersawn white oak, and solid cherry. The Mica Lamp Company has used inlaid glass to express the 1890's design of Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, layered fused iridescent glass to express the style of French designer Rene Lalique, prairie school designs sympathetic of the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and black wrought iron to represent the 1920's work of Californian Los Feliz.
Simply put, The Mica Lamp Company brings the beauty of hand made lighting to your home, office or even public space.
