Freight Shipments - Items which need to ship via freight

Freight DeliveryOak Park Home & Hardware offers some items which must ship by freight. This is because of the item size, weight and/or quantity of items in the order. Items shipped via freight are typically crated, boxed then secured to a palate, or pad wrapped. These are items which cannot be shipped via traditional methods such as UPS or Fedex Ground, Air or other.
An item which ships freight will have a message at checkout:
"Contact us at sales@oakparkhome-hardware.com for a shipping quote. Your order will not be shipped until we receive your approval and the shipping cost is paid in full."

You will be charged an initial $1 for shipping at the time of your order.
You can proceed with your order online and we will obtain a freight shipping cost for you based on the item(s) and the "ship to" location. We will send a message to you with the shipping cost and await your approval before sending an invoice for the freight balance. Please check your spam folder for any of our messages as our email correspondences often go to spam. If we do not hear back from you within a few days, then we reserve the right to cancel and refund the order.

Why do we handle it this way?

Freight costs can vary greatly based upon the product weight, ship from location, and ship to location. As an example, our cast stone planters and vases are made in Washington State and shipped direct. It is less cost to ship from Washington State to California than it is to ship from Washington State to Georgia.
Please note, there is always a minimum freight cost so the freight cost for 1 planter could be nearly the same as shipping 2 planters.
WE DO NOT MARK UP OR PROFIT FROM FREIGHT SHIPPING COSTS. IT IS A PASS THROUGH COST FOR US. IT IS THE ACTUAL SHIPPING COST.

Note: shipping to a business with a loading dock is typically less cost than a residential delivery.
For large orders which ship freight, we may have the liberty to discount the shipping cost or perhaps absorb the shipping cost. Please contact us for a total order cost including the freight, by email. We will get back with you asap.

We recognize that the conscientiousness of delivery services and personnel can vary. Simply put...delivery damage can occur and is unpredictable. If and when damage occurs, OPHH will do everything possible to help with the situation and either get your item repaired or replaced as soon as possible. The same applies to items that may become lost in shipment.

Receiving A Freight Delivery

SOMEONE MUST BE PRESENT TO ACCEPT A FREIGHT DELIVERY. Freight delivery is curbside delivery only and delivery personnel are only required to deliver the item to the site. It is the customer recipient responsibility to take it from there. Unpacking or uncrating is not the responsibility of the freight company or Oak Park Home & Hardware, Inc. Please make sure to have your own people to help with a delivery upon delivery. Most carriers will contact the recipient prior to delivery in order to make a delivery appointment.

Take note of any possible damage at the time of the delivery and have the delivery personnel note everything on the paperwork. Please take pictures of the crate, box, or other, at the time of delivery.
PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THE DELIVERY LOCATION AFTER A SHIPMENT HAS BEEN SHIPPED. OTHERWISE A SIGNIFICANT FEE WILL INCUR AND WE MUST COLLECT FOR THIS FEE.
PLEASE ACCEPT THE DELIVERY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. OTHERWISE A STORAGE FEE WILL INCUR AND WE MUST COLLECT FOR THIS FEE.
