Midway Gardens (1913-1914) was an entertainment complex on Chicago's South side, an extraordinary achievement of Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright supervised all of the cast concrete elements he called ''Sprites.'' This hand-cast cement garden sculpture and pedestal was inspired by sketches found in his archives.

Can this be used outdoors? And if so, can it withstand a harsh Winter?
Yes. The Frank Lloyd Wright Sprite statues are intended for outdoor use. They can withstand the Winter months in most locations but we do recomend bringing them into a garage or indoors for the Winter where extreme freezing temperatures occur. The important thing is to place them onto a stone or masonry surface rather than soil or mulch. This is so the statue does not wick water from the bottom and undergo a continual freeze/thaw situation.
