Arroyo Craftsman Mailbox Installation

Arroyo Craftsman Mailbox Installation
Installing an Arroyo Craftsman mailbox is a relatively easy task. The method of installation depends upon what surface type you will be installing onto. An Arroyo Craftsman mailbox can be installed onto a wood surface, masonry or brick, composite material, shingle or lap siding.

Arroyo Craftsman mailboxes are fabricated with four brass spacers located on the back. The spacers are instrumental in allowing the top of the mailbox to open fully without scrapping the back of the top against the surface in which the mailbox is mounted. The spacers also allow the mailbox to straddle shingle or siding angular pieces as well as uneven surfaces such as stucco. There are 2 pre-drilled screw holes located toward the top (on the back) of your Arroyo Craftsman mailbox. 2 brass wood screws are provided.

Wood Surfaces:
If you have a level wood surface, then your installation will be very easy. Simply position your mailbox against the wall surface and mark the holes to be drilled through the pre-drilled holes. Use a level to make absolutely sure that your holes will be level. Use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the screws provided. Position the mailbox and attach with the screws. IMPORTANT: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS. The mailbox must have space at the top in order for the top to open freely. The bottom of the mailbox should be able to lift somewhat. If you are concerned about your mailbox becoming stolen, then you can purchase tamper proof screws from your local hardware store.

Shingle or Lap Siding:
For shingle or lap siding surfaces, use the instructions as above. However, when positioning your mailbox, make sure that the spacers on the mailbox straddle the high points of the siding also allowing there to be space behind the top of the mailbox to open freely. If the surface material is not a solid wood surface, then use standard plastic drywall type anchors in the surface and screw into them rather than the surface material. Use a level to make absolutely sure that your holes will be level.

Masonry, Stucco, or Brick Surfaces:
The installation process is the same as above except that you will need to use a masonry drill bit and definitely use the standard plastic anchors. If attaching to a brick surface, you may want to locate the screws holes within the mortar between the brick as it is a softer material than brick.Use a level to make absolutely sure that your holes will be level.

That is all there is to it!
Your Arroyo Craftsman mailbox is constructed from .025 Brass Sheeting. It will not rust. Your Arroyo Craftsman mailbox may change in appearance over time, depending upon which finish you have ordered. Arroyo Craftsman is known for their "living finishes" such as Raw Copper, Mission Brown, and Bronze. They will develop a weathered look and may patina over time. Other finishes such as Satin Black, Rustic Brown, Pewter, Graphite, and Slate should not change over time. Arroyo Craftsman no longer recommends the Antique Brass or Antique Copper for outdoors.
